Liver Detox: Show Your Liver Some Love

Your Liver Needs Love Too

Your liver does so much work for you. It has to filter everything, toxins, fat, cholesterol, etc., and over time it gets tired of all this work with no love. You can relate, right?

Liver Love

I want to share with you the best way you can love your liver. My husband and I just finished a 9 day liver detox. I’ll be honest, it was a lot tougher than I thought it would be. I’m healthy. I eat well. But this was a bit different than what I’m used to. Basically, we had the liver detox smoothie for breakfast (recipe to the left), an apple for a snack, vegan low fat veggie lunch, apple and or dates for a snack, celery juice around 3pm (recipe to left) and more steamed veggies and salad for dinner. I was so craving something crunchy and fatty. I actually “cheated” with celery and hummus a couple of times. This liver detox is from a book I just finished call the Liver Rescue. For those who know me, this is what I do. I read something and then try it on myself.

Even though it was hard, I did notice my sleep got deeper and sounder. My energy perked up and I feel a little less layer of fat around my middle. Now, I am not over weight or have health issues so my experience was subtle. My husband reduced his waist by an inch and dropped several pounds. And it was hard for him too. I wasn’t hungry but I never felt quite satisfied and I was just slightly irritated most days. It was pretty funny at times as we would get irritated at each other and then realize, oh right, it’s a liver detox. In Chinese medicine, the liver holds the emotion of anger and frustration. So it made sense that we were struggling to not be irritated.

I’m happy the 9 days are over and I learned some things about the liver and my body that I plan to continue. The celery juice is a keeper. I really enjoy it as an afternoon snack as well as the apple. The smoothie is quite tasty as well, but I was so happy to start my day with Congee today. Check out last week’s post for the full scoop on congee.

Give the smoothie and juice a try. They will support your liver and your liver will love you for it. The other thing you can do to support your liver is take your Hepasil daily. You can add it to your monthly USANA supplement order and if you need help or have questions, let me know.

Loving your liver may also help issues such as high cholesterol, fatty liver, gallstones or so many other functions the liver is in charge of. And don’t worry, after the first few days, we were feeling happy again.

If you need help with any of this, I’m here to support and guide you. Have a great week.
