COVID-19: Extra Points on Staying Healthy

It seems like there has been an accelerating information that touches on points on staying healthy and avoid catching COVID-19. You’ve probably heard me a millions times talking about gut health related to the immune system. So that is the most important thing to focus on. I’m not going into details on that one. Fight or Flight

Another point on staying healthy is how to be calm. I did this program last month with John Amaral. It’s about going from Fight/Flight mode to Calm in a 7 day practice. It’s free and I found it effective. “Over the course of the Challenge, John Amaral will guide you through each of the seven layers that make up your energy system. You’ll discover how that energy system interacts with your body and mind and learn how to take yourself from an exhausted, depleted fight-or-flight state to an energized, calm flow state.”

Where the hell are all the tests?

That’s the million dollar question, right? Well, I may have an option for you. I can now order a finger stick test of antibodies. This test will tell you if you’ve been exposed or had COVD-19 and now have the antibodies. It will not tell you if you have an active infection. So if you are sick, wait 2 weeks before doing this test. They now know that it can take up to 28 days after infection for your body to produce antibodies. The test is $150 and is shipped overnight.

The kit detects 2019-nCoV IgM and IgG antibodies by immuno- capture method. The nitrocellulose membrane is coated by mouse-anti human monoclonal IgM antibodies, mouse-anti human monoclonal IgG antibodies, and goat-anti-mouse IgG antibodies. The recombinant 2019-nCoV antigen and mouse IgG antibodies are labeled with colloidal gold as a tracer. The antibodies will bind to colloidal gold-coated 2019- nCoV antigens to form compounds, which are further captured by pre-coated mouse-anti human IgM antibodies to form new compounds, and generate real time results.

Melt Your Menopausal Middle

What does this have to do with COVID-19 and staying healthy? Well, since I haven’t been full time treating patients, I had to use my creative energies somewhere and touch on points on how to reach those in need in terms of keeping healthy. So I wrote an ebook. It will be out in the next 2 weeks and I will make sure you know about it as soon as the design is complete.

Bubbly Fun Drinks

I don’t know about you, but for the first few days of shelter in place, my husband and I enjoyed wine with dinner. We usually only have wine or alcohol on the weekends. I quickly realized, this is not the habit I want to emerge with at the end of shelter in place. One of the points I’ll be referring to in order stay healthy is a highly recommended fresh beverage, and I also love bubbly fun drinks. So this recipe is the perfect combo, without the alcohol. Kombucha is a fermented drink, so it will have some level of alcohol. You can also get “hard kombucha” at Trader Joe’s. So if you want just a little zip to the mocktail, you can use that brand.

Middle Melting Mocktail

Sometimes I just want something fun to drink but don’t want alcohol with all its sugar. This is one of my favorites. This recipe makes 2 tall glasses.


  • 5-8 frozen organic blackberries or raspberries
  • 1  inch of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
  • 8 fresh mint leaves
  • Lime juice either from 2 fresh limes or organic jarred version
  • Ginger kombucha
  • Sparkling mineral water
  • Ice

Put the berries, ginger, mint, and lime juice, in a mortar and pestle. Muddle until it becomes mush. Divide the mixture into two tall glasses. Then add some ice. Fill half the glass with mineral water and half with the kombucha. If you don’t like kombucha, you can just use the mineral water. Garnish with a lime slice and mint sprig. Enjoy!
