Lady Parts Issues

Lady Parts Issues

As someone with lady parts, you may be interested in knowing more about potential health issues. Let’s face it, you probably juggle many things in your life and sometimes that may mean that you put your health on the back burner. I always tell my patients to put their oxygen masks on first so they can help others without depleting their own health.

Knowing more about potential health issues can help you stay on top of your health and keep your body running smoothly in the most hectic of times. Some of the most common health issues are Breast Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Anorexia, and sometimes, Depression. Let’s take a look at them and see what you can do to protect yourself.

Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer is one of the most commonly known diseases, and also, one of those diseases which can evoke fear. Although there’s no confirmed cause of breast cancer, there are factors that heighten the risk of getting breast cancer. Symptoms may include a lump in the breast, a change in shape or size of the breast, or discharge from a nipple.

Risk factors:

  • Age – Like many things in life, age makes you more susceptible to catching the disease
  • Genes –Yep. Your genes may increase your chances of getting cancer
  • Weight – studies have also shown that women who are overweight have a higher chance of getting breast cancer.
  • Alcoholism – another factor that may affect your chances of getting breast cancer is drinking too much alcohol.

Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian and Cervical Cancer are often called “stealthy diseases”. It is a subtle disease disguised as common problems like fatigue or frequent urination, both of which are common in women as you age. Ovarian Cancer has 4 stages depending on where the cancer cells are found in the body. The higher the stage, the more dangerous it becomes.

Stages of Ovarian Cancer:

  • Stage 1 – cancer cells can be found on the surface of the ovaries and/or fallopian tubes.
  • Stage 2 – the stage where cancer cells have also spread throughout the pelvis and the uterus.
  • Stage 3 – cancer cells have further spread now reaching the abdomen and the surfaces of the liver or spleen.
  • Stage 4 – cancer cells have now reached further areas of the body, commonly bones, lungs, and other nearby organs.

Getting regular lady parts checkups, living a healthy lifestyle, and staying active are a few things you can do to reduce your chances of disease.

Anorexia

Anorexia is an eating disorder. Anorexia is defined as the intense fear of gaining weight, distorted view of body image, and the restriction of food intake. Although this may seem less serious than Breast Cancer or Ovarian Cancer, Anorexia is actually considered a life-threatening disease.

Anorexia is a cycle of self-starvation where the essential nutrients needed by the body aren’t supplied normally. Nutrients like sodium, potassium, and calcium. This forces the body to slow down all the processes needed for energy conservation resulting in a very serious medical condition. Contrary to the beliefs of most people, people with Anorexia aren’t cured just by telling them to “start eating food”. Please understand that anyone with Anorexia is suffering not only from a life-threatening medical condition, but will also need some psychological support to get through this. Should anyone you know show signs of Anorexia, professional help is highly advised.

Depression

Oftentimes depression is labeled as “drama” by other people who don’t understand what it truly is. Depression is a type of mental condition where a person suffers extreme sadness, feeling lost, and/or feeling left out with or without any reason. Depression comes to women most commonly after giving birth. Commonly known as Postpartum Depression. But that doesn’t mean it is limited there. A woman or any person for that matter may suffer this condition at any point in their life. Perimenopause and menopause can often bring on depression even in women who have never suffered from it in the past. It is highly advised that whenever you feel extreme sadness with or without reason, seek help from your doctor or a mental health specialist.
