Menopause and Collagen Loss, What to do about it.

Menopause and Collagen Loss, What to do about it.

What to do about menopause and collagen loss?

By the time you turn 50, you’ve already lost 25% of your collagen in your skin! Not only that, but you have the collagen content of a 70 year old man! Women have a 20 year deficit in collagen content compared to men. Jeez! That’s so unfair.

As you age, you lose lean body mass. That’s why we all get a bit squishy. You have to work hard to maintain lean muscle and strong bones especially as you get into your 40’s and beyond.

Thankfully, diet and exercise can make a real difference. As well as adding supplements can be REALLY helpful.

One of my favorites is whole body collagen from designs for health. Many patients take collagen for their hair, skin, nails, and joints. I take it for my crackly knee joints. But it also has a collagen peptide complex that has been shown in human clinical trial to rebuild cartilage, improve skin appearance, and increase bone mineral density in post-menopausal women!  You should feel the difference within one month of taking this collagen.

If you want to know more about how collagen can help you, or if you’d like to give it a try just email me.

Another way you can improve your skin and joints, is to work on the health of your gut. Dr. Karen Wolfe is doing a webinar on this topic. Hope you can join me for this one.
