Trouble Sleeping?

Gut relative to sleep

Do you find trouble sleeping? Sleep is so essential to your health and well-being. But what do you do when it just doesn’t happen for you? Something you can try is taking calcium before bed.

Here’s the thing though, if you’re gut is out of balance you won’t be able to absorb the nutrients that you are consuming or taking in supplements. That’s the tricky thing about your body. It needs not only good nutrition and high quality supplements, it needs to be in balance in order to utilize those nutrients.

Calcium bicarbonate

Calcium bicarbonate is the form of calcium that your body needs. So when you take a calcium lactate supplement, your stomach acid needs to be in the right balance to then convert that lactate to bicarbonate so that, in turn, your body can have it in a form that it can use.

Taking calcium nightly for sleep can possibly upset your body’s mineral balance such as zinc. So, if the calcium is helping with your sleep, you may just need it short term to kick your body back into balance. If you can’t sleep without it, then it’s essential that you take your daily dose of USANA cellsentials to maintain the optimal level of all essential nutrients.

Food Source

A nice way to get macro minerals into your body through food is to eat sesame seeds. You can sprinkle them on just about anything from yogurt and granola to chia pudding or roasted veggies. Give it a try. Keep a shaker filled next to the salt and pepper so you easily remember it.

Trouble Falling Asleep

So if you have trouble falling asleep or try sleeping or toss and turn for what seems like forever, then you could take some calcium before bed. You may have success adding Standard Process’s Cataplex F to the calcium.

Cataplex F

“It is a dietary supplement containing, Calcium lactate, defatted wheat (germ), carrot, bovine prostate, bovine liver, magnesium citrate, oat flour, bovine orchic extract, bovine liver fat extract, flaxseed oil extract, potassium para-aminobenzoate, tocopherols (soy) and ascorbic acid. Cataplex F supports the body’s inflammatory response function as it relates to periodic challenges like consumption of high-fat foods or strenuous activity. Flaxseed is a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids from plants. Provides lipids for the formation of eicosanoids. Promotes healthy skin and hair.” (From Standard Process website info.)

Trouble Staying Asleep

If you find yourself sleeping but then wake up and can’t get back to sleep, you may benefit from calcium PLUS Inositol. I use “Designs for Health Inositol Powder 250 gms or capsules, supports overall relaxation and helps maintain the proper metabolism of serotonin. It is used for nutritional support of brain wellness and female hormonal health through its role in healthy liver function. It may also aid in attaining a restful night’s sleep.”

I like USANA’s chewable calcium as it has the right combo of D3 and Magnesium so that your body can absorb the nutrients. If you don’t like the taste of chewables, you can also take their MagneCal D.

Remember, NEVER buy ANY supplements from AMAZON. It’s not safe. Here is a blog post if you want to read more about why.

I’m happy to order anything you need directly from the manufacturer and I’ve provided links directly to USANA products I suggested.

If you need help with any of this, I’m here to support and guide you. Have a great week. Donna
