What is Your Face Trying to Tell You?

Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Have you ever thought about your health and look at yourself in the mirror and that your face is trying to tell you something? Sometimes we all have to deal with acne, dry skin, red or blotchy skin tone. How your skin affects your health and well-being altogether. Have you ever wondered why that happens and what to do about it?

Face Mapping

One idea to explore is face mapping. The theory is based in thousands year old Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. The premise is that wherever you have an issue on your skin, it connects to something more deeply in your body. So now let’s determine what your skin trying to tell you.

The Facial Map and What it Says.

Forehead

Poor skin tone, lines, or acne can relate to your small intestine. Stress, poor digestion and sleep deprivation can be the issue.  Reduce the amount of alcohol you consume as well as bad fats like fast foods or trans fats like partially hydrated oils.

Between your Eyebrows

That’s your stomach and liver function. Liver can also connect to the emotion of anger. Is there something you are repressing? Eat more cleaning foods like organic fruits, veggies and drink more water.

Temple

If this area is inflamed with acne, it’s your kidneys. You may also have back pain. The solution is to drink more water.

Upper cheek

If you have rosacea, eczema, or acne, this is your heart area and you need to consume more good fats such as oily fish, nuts, seeds, and avocados.

Mid cheek

This connects to your lung and stomach. Increase alkaline foods such as broccoli, lemon, spinach, celery, red peppers, and cucumber. Green juice is also a great option.

Lower cheek

This is your liver and stomach. To help clear this area, you might consider a gentle cleanse where you take out wheat, dairy, alcohol, and sugar for 21 days.

Mouth

This is your stomach. It could indicate poor or sluggish digestion and food intolerance.

Jaw

This connects to hormonal imbalance or stress in body. You can help this with some deep breathing, the 4/7/8 breath, meditation, or yoga.

Neck

If this area is dull or has acne, it relates to the lymph and stress.

If you have regular issues with any area of your face, I’m happy to help you with some options on how to clear up your skin.

Eliminate Toxins

With being in the know in terms of what your face is trying to tell you there is one thing you can do to improve your skin and overall health is a self lymphatic massage. Your lymphatic system helps to eliminate toxins from your body. Doing so will help drain excess fluids out of your face that can cause dark circles, puffiness, or dull skin tone. Sinus issues and cold indications can be helped with this as well. This is a very gentle massage as the lymph system is just under the skin surface.

  1. Cross your hands and gently stroke your fingertips downward along the area where your neck meets the clavicle bone. Ideally do 50 to 100 times.
  2. Take your hands onto your neck with your fingers facing toward your back and gently slide your hands down the side of your neck. Once again doing 50-100 strokes.
  3. Make a scoop shape with your hands and finger tips touching behind the neck and stroke downward 50-100 times.
  4. Make your hands into the “Live long and Prosper” sign putting 2 fingers in front and the other 2 finger behind your ear. Gently stroke downward from your ear along your jaw line.
  5. Now repeat going from step 3 to 1.

You should free maybe a slight tickle in the back of your throat or maybe just a calm energy running down your neck into your body. Try this once a week to help move your lymph and clear toxins out of your body.
