What’s your hobby?

Chances are you’ve heard a lot about how important a healthy lifestyle is – you need to exercise, you need to eat right, you need enough sleep.

All of those are important. But there is one more thing that you need to include. A hobby. That’s right. As you are working to live healthy, take the time to incorporate an activity (or activities) that you enjoy.

Hobbies really are important for both your physical and your mental health.

A recent study supports the benefits of engaging in those enjoyable leisure activities: ”participants had more positive and less negative mood, more interest, less stress, and lower heart rate when engaging in leisure than when not.”

It is also important to consider that if you have an activity you enjoy, then you are more likely to make the time for that activity. This is an important part of maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

Don’t have a hobby? That’s okay. Today is the perfect time to find one! Is there something you’ve always wanted to try? Were there things you did as a child that you just haven’t done in a while?

Do keep your personality in mind. And if you are worried about budget, just remember that a hobby doesn’t have to be expensive. It just has to be something you enjoy!
