3 Foods That Can Help Heal Your Gut

3 Foods That Can Help Heal Your Gut

There are 3 foods that can help heal your gut. Do you want to have a healthy gut? Unhealthy bacteria increase the risk of several diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease and obesity. High sugar consumption contributes to an unhealthy gut as well.

Everything in your body starts with what you put into it. “Good food in” usually equals “good energy out” when it comes to your body. Overloads of things like sugar and gluten, over time, can lead to allergies, reactions, and autoimmune diseases that can develop – starting all from your gut.

Of course, each body is very different. By consulting with a health coach, you can identify what your body needs. Oftentimes, it can involve at least a slight change in diet. Everything starts with the gut! If you are interested in becoming healthier and healing your gut, check out these 3 powerful foods that can help you align your body and gut with a healthier lifestyle.

Bone Broth

Bone broth helps to heal intestinal mucosa. This supports the function of the immune system and healthy inflammatory response, as it acts as a prebiotic for our intestinal flora.

It also contains a variety of minerals and healing substances such as amino acids proline, glutamine, and arginine. These help to seal the intestinal mucosa, reduce permeability, fight inflammation, and strengthen the immune system. Tips when drinking bone broth:

  • Drink it hot straight from a cup
  • Use it in a tasty stew or soup

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a good choice for helping us to break down and digest food. You will sometimes find this liquid in gut cleanses. It accomplishes this by stimulating the digestive juices and increasing the production of essential gastric acids. It also contains antiviral and antimicrobial properties which aid in the reduction of growth from bacteria.

We don’t want our gastrointestinal (GI) tracts living with excess bacteria, and it’s a good thing we don’t have to. ACV is considered an excellent way to improve the health of our guts by removing the buildup of excess yeast. Tips for drinking ACV:

  • Take one to two tablespoons with a glass of water before meals
  • Use it to make a cup of hot tea
  • Mix it with olive oil for a delicious salad dressing

Leafy Vegetables

Leafy vegetables, such as spinach and kale, are an easy type of food to add into your current diet. These are an excellent source of fiber and nutrients. Folic acid, vitamin C, vitamin K, and vitamin A are among them. Johns Hopkins Medicine recommends leafy greens as a nutritious source of a certain sugar that aids in the production of healthy gut bacteria.

If you don’t have much time to cook, consider adding leafy greens into a smoothie in the morning so that you can take your gut-healing foods on the go. You can also typically find smoothies, and other healthy drinks, at your local wellness center. Fitting leafy greens into your day can help with digestion, and keep you feeling energized.

Implementing these 3 foods into your diet can help you improve the health of your gut. They support the production of healthy stomach acids and pancreatic enzymes. Just as importantly, they help soothe your digestive system by providing important nutrients and amino acids to heal the intestinal mucus. The healing can take time, but if you choose your food wisely and remain consistent, your gut will thank you later.
