>How did 2011 go for you?

>It’s that time of year when people think about where they are and what they want to do in the new year. Most people want to reduce some weight, eat healthier or maybe exercise more. These are all great intentions and most people do really well with their new year’s resolutions for the first month or so into the new year.

What I would like to suggest is start with a review of the past year. What went really well for you? What are you most proud of accomplishing? Go back through your agenda and look at all those to-do lists or appointments and projects that you completed. Did you go on a great family vacation? Did you run your kids to soccer practice every Wednesday? I believe it’s so important to take a moment to reflect on all the good stuff, whether it’s big or small, it’s important to acknowledge.

Once you’ve reflected on all the good stuff, set some realistic goals for the new year. Maybe eating a healthy meal 3 nights a week is a good start. Or walking at lunch for 10 minutes is another option. Set your self up for success. Lifestyle changes are most successful when done in small manageable increments consistently over time. Have fun with it.
